Wisconsin FFA Foundation surpasses $500,000 fundraising thresholdThe Wisconsin FFA Foundation has reached a significant milestone of raising over $500,000 during its 2013-14 campaign. This achievement comes through nearly doubling its annual fundraising efforts over the past five years. The current year’s campaign raised 20 percent more than last year and $25,000 over this year’s campaign goal, with the final campaign deadline being Friday, June 13.
“We are proud of what this translates to for our FFA members,” says Julie Larson, President of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation Board of Directors. “There is tangible evidence of the additional opportunities these increased financial resources provide. For example, they are directly responsible for additional activities at the State FFA Convention such as the Rally to Fight Hunger and the Alumni Seminar, to name a few.”
Over that same five-year time period, the Wisconsin Association of FFA has also had seven chapters chartered or re-chartered, and membership has maintained a steady growth trend, reaching a 30-year high of 19,190 members this year.
“There are so many people who have played a role in this success, and we are so truly grateful for their generosity and dedication,” says Sara Schoenborn, Wisconsin FFA Foundation Executive Director. “Each and every donor has a direct impact on the lives of those students responsible for the future of the agriculture, food and natural resources industries. Thank you to all donors who were part of breaking this record!”
Fittingly, the Wisconsin FFA Foundation will be granted the Distinguished Service Award at the Wisconsin FFA Convention on Wednesday, June 11. It is the highest award that Wisconsin FFA can present to an individual, organization, agency, business, or industry, and is in appreciation of outstanding contributions made to the Wisconsin Association of FFA and the total program of agricultural education.
